“The Proverbs”, the opening noun gives the book its name in the Hebrew Bible as in ours. The Hebrew term basically means ‘a comparison’ (e.g., the sharp simile such as –at random–11:23, 12:4; or the full grown allegory of Ezek 17:2 or Judges 9:8), but it came to stand for any kind of sage pronouncement [...]

I Kings 20:1-4: And Ben-hadad the king of Syria gathered all his host together: and there were thirty and two kings with him, and horses, and chariots: and he went up and besieged Samaria, and warred against it. And he sent messengers to Ahab king of Israel into the city, and said unto him, Thus saith Ben-hadad, Thy silver and thy gold is mine; thy wives also and thy children, even the goodliest, are mine. It might be right, in a very long shot. But more than likely it is not. True dream interpretation does not come from [...]
Matt 2:1-2….11: Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him………….. And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Frankincense is a gift for a priest. Myrrh is a gift for one who is to die. Gold is for a king.” Leave a comment
Tradition says there were three wise men, however, the verse gives no indication of how many there were. Bethlehem means “house of bread.” Man is always seeking a king, for he feels in the depth of his soul that he is never so great as in the presence of his greater. Let a great man [...]
