Crowns have been prepared for each of the finally redeemed. Every soul is a candidate in the race for eternal life, and hence for a crown. Faith in Jesus, and perseverance to the end, will hold it fast.

Rev 2:24: But to you I say, and to the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put on you none other burden.   Leave a comment

Localizing sin in a class, group, or people leads to Phariseeism. It becomes not a problem of Christ vs. fallen humanity, but us against ther evil world. Moreover, too often false views of the world’s problems have us study evil as an outside or alien problem, us against them. Our Lord warns against the study [...]

Rev 2:14: But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.   Leave a comment

Balaam served God for profit and was among the first to advocate the marriage of saint with sinner, believer with unbeliever, Jews with Gentiles which is fornication. The story of how Balaam worked out his nefarious plans may be found in Numbers 25:1-9, Ungodly marriages destroyed God’s people in Old Testament times, and it was [...]

Rev 2:11: He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.   Leave a comment

“Second death” is an expression peculiar to this book only. Rev 20:6 says “Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power…” And Rev 20:14: “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.” And then Rev [...]

Rev 2:8: And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things said the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;   Leave a comment

Smyrna means “bitter.” The Church at Smyrna represents the persecuted church. After the death if the Apostles the church suffered more terrible persecutions than ever before. The church was a poor church from the standpoint of earthly goods but rich in the things of God. With professors on the inside and persecuters on the outside [...]

Rev 1:10: I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,   Leave a comment

Not that the voice was musical, but that in John’s mind it was as a voice which commanded attention. Our English word “church” is derived from the Greek word kuriakon, which means “belonging to a lord.” But of itself, kuriakon has absolutely no religious connotation. It simply meant “the lord or master of a property.” [...]

Rev 1:9: I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.   Leave a comment

The only brotherhood of which the Bible speaks is the brotherhood of believers. God is the creator and maker of all men and in that sense all men are His offspring, but God is Father only to those who believe. Patmos was a lonely isle in the Aegean Sea. It was about 30 miles in [...]

Rev 1:8: “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”   Leave a comment

Alpha is the first letter and Omega the last letter of the Greek alphabet. There can be no written language without the letters. Letters are necessary to language. Christ was and is the Word of God. He is God’s language. He is God’s Word. He is God’s last Word to man. He was the eternal [...]

Rev 1:7: Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen   Leave a comment

..then will every knee bow and proclaim “Jesus Christ is Lord.” Some translations use the word “wail” instead of “mourn.” I think “wail” works better and is a more apt description. With what consternation and shame will his rejectors behold him. With what horror will those behold him who have blasphemed. His name, denied his [...]

Rev 3:14: “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write   Leave a comment

The name designates it as a church of mob rule, where everything was decided by popular opinion and majority votes, and not by prayer and fasting.

Rev 4:8-11: And the four creatures, each having six wings…….and cast their crowns before the throne saying ‘You are worthy, O Lord, to recieve glory honor and power; for you created all things, and by your will they exist and were created.”   Leave a comment

Notice the submission made by falling down and casting their crowns before the throne. “They worship..saying” and then folows a beuatiful and majestic verbal expression of adoration. By definition, worship is directed to God, yet the glorification or God is magnified when words of adoration are heard by others.

Rev 12:12: Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.   Leave a comment

Satanic activity and influence will increase dramatically as the day of Christ’s return draws nearer. This verses appears in context concerning believers and their war with the enemy who is called “the accuser of our brothers.” Much of Satans fury will be diurected specifically toward Christians as the clock ticks closer toward Christ’s return. Understand [...]

Rev 1:6: And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.   Leave a comment

Instead of being “kings and priests unto God and his Father” in Christ, we are television addicts (an average of four hours daily) who have little time for the Bible and prayer. We are losing by default.

“Whoremonger” is one who has allowed immorality to become a lifestyle. Sorcery includes drugs and the occult. Liars have made falseness a way of life.
